History Department

Cole Manley, PhD student in History at UC Davis, studies the urban, social, and political history of California and the American West. He is particularly interested in the racial, class, and gender politics of San Francisco and Oakland from the 1860s through World War II, with emphasis on developments in transit and real estate. Advised by Dr. Greg Downs, Manley completed his BA in History at Stanford University, and received his Master's in International and World History from a dual-degree program at Columbia University and the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is from San Francisco, originally, and lives in Davis, CA.
